The Daily Mail is positively coffee-obsessed!
We are starting to think that the Daily Mail is being lobbied by the Coffee Industry! Yet another article about the wonders of coffee published yesterday: Coffee 'reduces risk of diabetes… but decaff works just as well!' Daily Mail, 17 January 2012 Drinking coffee can help reduce the risk of diabetes, say scientists. A study found three compounds contained in the beverage can block the toxic build up of a protein, which is known to trigger the long-term condition. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body doesn't prevent enough insulin for it to function properly but the coffee extracts were also…

Another very interesting article on coffee and health
Dr Christian Jessen: The new health drink - coffee London Evening Standard 21 Sep 2011 I have lost count of the times coffee makes the health headlines. I challenge you to scan any health magazine and not find numerous recommendations to give up tea and coffee as an important part of "detoxing" and improving health. This advice is, of course, utter twaddle. Coffee is a misrepresented commodity in my opinion. It is one of the most heavily researched products in the world and the weight of science suggests moderate coffee consumption (of four to five cups per day) is safe…

An Article in the Chicago Tribune on Coffee's Health Benefits
We thought this might be of interest. It's quite a comprehensive article on the latest research being done on coffee: Coffee offers potential health perks January 4, 2012 A few decades ago, people sipped coffee with trepidation, as doctors cautioned against drinking too much of this "excitable" brew. But now the attitude on coffee and health has come full circle, due to research that reveals this plant-based beverage might actually have some health benefits. And it's a good thing, because people really love their morning--as well as afternoon and evening--cup of Joe. Per capita in the U.S., men drink 1.9…

Article in the Daily Mail about Kopi Luwak
From Last Week's Daily Mail: Most expensive cup of coffee goes on sale for £70 a cup thanks to beans extracted from cats' droppings AT £70, the price alone of Britain’s most expensive coffee is enough to wake you up. And if that isn’t enough to shock, the method by which it is made just might. Kopi Luwak coffee, which is produced on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, is made from animal droppings. The beans are extracted from the droppings of the native palm civet — a cat-like creature that eats only the ripest coffee cherries - but can’t digest…
