Jacu Bird Coffee, Canocim Estate, Brazil Buy Now

Camocim Estate, located in Pedra Azul, Espirito Santo, Brazil, is populated with a native South American bird called the Jacu. These indigenous birds are herbivores, inhabiting forested plantations (shade grown coffee areas) and feasting on the ripe coffee cherries. Once the Jacu bird has ingested the cherry, it eliminates the digested beans, which then lie on the ground under the coffee trees. Our staff collects these odourless droppings and transports them to the drying areas where they are dried, cleaned and stored in their parchment for up to three months.

The highly-prized coffee produced in the Kona coffee region is concentrated in a narrow corridor stretching about 30 miles between the mountain communities of Holualoa and Honanunau on the flank of Mauna Loa. This is known as the Kona coffee "belt", where a combination of factors makes for superb coffee growing conditions; rich volcanic soil, an ideal elevation of about 335 metres and a gentle climate. The coffee plants are kissed by morning sun and caressed by afternoon rain showers.

Kaanapali Estate is located in the western side of the Island of Maui, the most beautiful island of Hawaii. The farm is originally a part of the Pioneer Mill sugar plantation, which diversified the land out of sugar cane into coffee in 1988. Domaine de Vanibel Read More

In 1723, Gabriel Mathieu de Clieu, a young French Naval officer fell in love with the exquisite taste of coffee, by then a newly discovered product. Mr. de Clieu was so infatuated with the taste of the arabica Typica coffee variety that he took many risks and exposed himself to many perils in order to take a coffee plant from the Royal Botany Garden in Paris to the the Island of Martinique in the Caribbean to start to grow it there. He thought that the climate of the Caribbean was ideal to produce excellent quality coffee.

Shortly afterwards, in the year of 1726, the same Mr. de Clieu introduced from Martinique some coffee seedlings to the neighbor Island of Guadeloupe. Mr. de Clieu became Governor of Guadeloupe in 1728.

The Rare Tea Company Read More

There is a confusing array of teas on the market today. Most tea companies offer you a huge range from the mediocre to the good. The Rare Tea Company is not that sort of company. We sample the finest and just select the best.

Our trade is fair. We deal directly with our farmers not brokers. We don't haggle. We pay them what they ask and what they need for the farms and the people who live on them to thrive.

Henrietta Lovell, Founder and Director of Rare Tea Co, says:
"I have been personally sourcing all our teas since 2004. I travel to small mountain tea gardens across China, India, and Africa. Our teas are not mass-produced in large industrial agri-businesses. These whole leaves and tips are skillfully produced by artisans and tea masters."
"Tea may come from the same regions and have the same name but not all tea is equal. It's rather like fine wine or champagne: in a terroir there may be many producers growing many grapes but they don't, of course, all produce the same wine."
"Genuinely rare and incredible, teas of these qualities are hard to find and only produced in extremely small quantities."

Black River Chocolate Read More

Black River Chocolate is the brainchild of Jamaican-born founder and CEO, Marvia Borrell. Marvia has more than 20 years' experience in the global hospitality industry and has worked around the world. She currently devotes her time to building the Black River brand and is supported by an international team based in Jamaica, the UK, Belgium and France.

As a self-confessed chocaholic, Marvia was inspired to develop Black River by the simple fact that, although it had a unique standing for the quality of its cocoa on the world stage, Jamaica didn't have its own luxury chocolate brand. After extensive research and testing, she finally arrived at what has so far proved to be the ideal formula, and launched the brand.

Marvia says: "We are passionate about sharing the finest flavour in the world - Jamaican cocoa. We hope that once the world gets to know about Black River Chocolate, they'll be just as passionate about tasting it."
