Produced by the Sherwood (RSW) Coffee Works whose main house, factory, mill and patios date back to 1797, Sherwood Estate Coffee is an excellent example of Jamaica Blue Mountain at its best. Lovingly produced by the Deichman family, this coffee is high grown and sourced from farms up to 1,700 meters. The cup profile is smooth and bold at equal turns with a rich, sweet finish and lovely aroma.

Sherwood (formerly RSW) coffee comes from the Sherwood Forest Estate at altitudes of up to 1700 metres and just below the Blue Mountain Peak, the highest mountain in the Blue Mountains. Sherwood Forest Estate is one of the largest intact original Blue Mountain coffee plantations and coffee has been grown there almost continuously since the late 1700' s. Most of Sherwood's plantings are scattered in the tree shaded valleys through which run seasonal springs. The charming early 19th century house, pulpery and drying mill, including the original 19th century drying barbecues continue in use today.

Coffee plants produce their fruit in the form of a coffee cherry. Typically, the coffee cherry grows two halves of a bean within a single cherry. Sometimes the coffee cherry produces a single bean rather than two beans. This single bean is processed and hand sorted into Jamaica Blue Mountain Peaberry coffee. Peaberry coffee beans are smaller in size than typical coffee beans and are generally considered to be more intensely flavourful with slightly more acidity than the same normal coffee bean. Peaberry coffee is, by its very nature, rare as only 5% or so of all coffee beans harvested are in the Peaberry form.

  • Grind fresh

    Stale beans loses flavor. Keeping beans fresh is easier than you think. Once opened, store your bag of coffee in a cool dry place.  We recommend using a vacuum sealed storage container to maintain aroma and rich, full coffee flavor.

    Engage all your senses to get the most from your coffee - like excellent wine, coffee (at it's finest) is a multi-sensory joy.

  • Less is more

    To get the most from your coffee we suggest drinking from a small glass. By drinking your coffee in a small glass (we sometimes use brandy glasses) and interspersing your sips with a little water, you will experience huge flavours from every mouth full.

  • Water and oxygen bring coffee to life

    Saliva helps to liberate the volatile aromas in your mouth and a big breathe of oxygen helps to carry those aromas up through the mouth and into the nose for retronasal smelling to take effect.  Our Head Taster, Guy Wilmot is obsessive about hydration as being one of the secrets to his success in the cupping room.

  • Heat your cup, drink it now

    Steamed milk drinks like Cappuccino, Latte and Flat White are little daily pleasures we love. Be careful to not over heat beyond 70C as milk starts to burn and loses it's sweet deliciousness.  To avoid the temptation, use cold milk in a cold jug when steaming and make sure you have heated your porcelain cup.  Enjoy your drink as soon as it is prepared (they call it espresso for a reason) - it'll be the perfect temperature without being overheated!
